YAKIMA ENDOSCOPY CLINIC

Get affordable, high-quality endoscopy services at Direct Imaging Yakima. Our state-of-the-art medical center offers fast access to a variety of imaging services. We strive to be the imaging center of choice for the Yakima Valley region, offering endoscopy and gastroenterology services at a better value than area hospitals. Avoid the long drive out to Seattle, Tacoma, or Spokane and save on imaging services at our Yakima endoscopy clinic.

Why Choose Our Endoscopy Services?

Our endoscopy services offer more detailed data on intestinal disorders than standard X-rays. Endoscopes, which transmit imagery via a long, flexible tube with an attached camera, provide a clearer view of issues like inflammation and internal bleeding in the GI tract. This detail facilitates the diagnosis of tumors, polyps, and cancer at earlier stages. When we encounter these abnormalities during the procedure, the endoscope offers a convenient means to gather tissue samples. For these reasons, endoscopy dramatically reduces the need for more invasive exploratory and diagnostic surgeries while improving patient care.

  • Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s, or IBS

Types of Endoscopies Performed at Our Yakima Imaging Center

Direct Imaging offers a wide range of endoscopic procedures at our Yakima gastroenterology and endoscopy center, including:

Upper endoscopies

In an upper endoscopy, the scope is inserted through the mouth and throat to gain insight into esophageal, stomach, and upper intestinal disorders.

Lower endoscopies

The scope is inserted through the rectum with a lower endoscopy, as is typical with colonoscopy procedures.

Endoscopic ultrasounds

We may use endoscopy in combination with ultrasound imaging to obtain more detailed information about digestive system disorders.

About the Endoscopy Procedure

Endoscopy is a common outpatient procedure. Solid foods should not be consumed for up to 12 hours before endoscopy to ensure clear imagery. Liquids are likewise discouraged for up to a few hours prior. Your doctor may recommend laxatives or enemas to clear your digestive tract the preceding evening. Be sure to tell your physician about any medicines or supplements you take, discussing which you should avoid before the procedure. A local anesthetic and sedative are typically given during the procedure to ensure comfort. You will lie down, and once comfortable, the gastroenterologist will insert the endoscope, inflating the area to facilitate better camera views. Special tools may also be inserted through the tube, such as for a biopsy. Your endoscopy should take about 30 minutes, however, it’s best to allot about two hours from check-in to discharge. Due to potential sedative after-effects and the possibility of nausea and discomfort after the procedure, an escort is recommended to drive you home following endoscopy. You can expect to resume normal activities the following day. Get the imaging services you need at a better price, close to home.
